La mayoría de las infecciones de los senos se presenta en mujeres en período de lactancia y ocurre cuando las bacterias se introducen en el seno a través de fisuras en el pezón. Los abscesos se presentan cuando existe una infección grave. Para el tratamiento se suelen prescribir antibióticos.
